Faith Without Nonsense

A book for those who believe, and those who wish they could.

Faith can be difficult on many levels. For some, belief in God is a simple matter of choice, yet a growing number of people find that they can no longer bring themselves to believe. Even among those who have professed faith for a lifetime, many face inner struggles with doubt.

Faith Without Nonsense is for those who are interested in gaining deeper insights into the Knowledge of God. It addresses the subject of faith with dispassionate disregard for nonsense, tackling hard questions and shedding light on aspects of faith that have long been misunderstood or simply unknown.

Regardless of the current state of your faith, if you wish to learn about the Knowledge of God in concrete terms rather than vague metaphors and analogies, this book was written for you.

Excerpts from the Book

From the Introduction
If someone were to ask why bad things happen to good people, why some families seem to face more calamity than others, it would be only a matter of time before even a satisfying answer would lead to other more difficult questions. How can innocence be consumed by evil within reach of an omniscient and omnipotent God, a God who loves us more than we love ourselves? Why are some prayers answered while others are not?

Yet, as difficult as these questions are, we must know that there is more to understanding the Kingdom of God than finding answers to hard questions. The truth is that some questions cannot be answered directly; instead, they require a broader understanding in which those answers simply present themselves.

This book is a journey of understanding, a journey in which the Kingdom of God is approached from the perspective of knowledge. It aims to provide a basis upon which questions such as these can be understood, but only as incidental insights within a much broader revelation of the Knowledge of God itself.

From the Chapter, Preparing for the Knowledge of God
When we set out to find the Knowledge of God, we are almost by definition searching for knowledge that will be new to us. In order to gain that knowledge we must make a place for it. If we insist that this new, but admittedly unknown knowledge must conform to our strict preconceived notions, then we have thwarted all possible learning, forcing anything that we could have otherwise learned from the Lord to fit within the limited containers of our current opinions and beliefs.

From the Chapter, Why We Suffer
The Bible talks about the necessity of preaching the Gospel throughout the entire world, and that such a thing is a prerequisite to the return of the Messiah (Matthew 24:14). While this seems to be a rather straightforward milestone, it masks a greater truth; that the propagation of this message is the work of the church, but the world’s response to that message is a sign of the times.

From the Chapter, The Kingdom of God
In the end, all of this leads to a rather obvious question: is there a concrete definition of the Knowledge of God, or is it only a philosophical concept that defies any attempt to capture it? The answer is, yes; there is indeed a definition. But glimpsing it requires that we take a small mental step forward. We must look at patterns and instances.
